Crime and Punishment
Crime and Punishment is a masterpiece of literature that invites us to reflect on human nature, morality, and the search for life's meaning. The main character, Raskolnikov, lives in an oppressive and unequal society. To express his rebellion against this system, which he sees as unjust, he develops the idea of "extraordinary men." This concept suggests that exceptional individuals are above established moral norms (similar to the "superman" figure in Nietzsche's philosophy). However, this theory proves to be a dangerous mental construct that leads to his ruin. Raskolnikov uses this interpretation to justify his future actions and, ultimately, the his crime commits. Crime and Punishment invites us to question our own nature, our deep beliefs, and the consequences of our actions. Can we truly justify a crime in the name of a greater good?
